Bombay Dreams Single And Album Out Soon

If you don’t already know, Andrew Lloyd Webber is about to have a brand new musical out real soon and it’s real unique since it’s pretty much Bollywood inspired. I mean with a title like ‘Bombay Dreams’, it’s pretty much a given.

Shakalaka Baby, sung by 21-year-old, Preeya Kalidas, who also leads the cast of the musical, will be the first single from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Bombay Dreams’, written by the hugely successful Indian composer A.R. Rahman. The single has just been added to www.thebox.co.uk even.

Both the single and the ‘Bombay Dreams’ album will be released on the 17th of June, just 2 days before the musical’s opening night on the 19th of June.

Andrew Lloyd Webber has been predicting for some years that Indian musical culture would have an enormous impact in Britain and this has been borne out by Oasis’s recent, Indian-influenced number one single, the rise in audiences for Bollywood films and the success of the soundtrack to Monsoon Wedding in the classical charts.

Enrique’s Lonely

Enrique Iglesias has admitted he is lonely and wishes the rumours about his love affair with Anna Kournikova were true.

He adds that he isn’t angry about the false stories claiming he was dating the Russian tennis star.

“There is no particular type of girl that I go for. However, I will say that I like independent and intelligent women” he told Croatian magazine, Gloria.

“There is always time for love. Any artist who says they can’t find time for romance is talking nonsense. Remember that ok. That’s crap. But there are times when I feel lonely, particularly when I find myself alone in a hotel room after a concert.”

“But it is far worse when you are surrounded by people who do not know you, or do not even like you, who you know are only there because you are famous. It doesn’t do you any good if they just pander to you all the time. You need real friends who will be honest with you.”

So Solid Crew’s MC Morgan Was Almost Homeless

So Solid Crew producer Carl Morgan, aka MC Morgan, yesterday narrowly escaped being evicted from his flat. The garage don faced being booted out of his home after failing to pay the rent for over a year.

Bailiffs arrived on Morgan’s doorstep yesterday morning after his bill rose to over GBP4,000. However, the So Solid member barricaded himself in and refused to emerge. Several of Morgan’s friends then turned up and started to threaten bailiffs and council officers.

A Wandsworth council spokesman said “We went in to evict the person and he refused to open the door. A number of other people turned up and confronted our officers and the bailiffs and they felt the need to call for the police.”

Morgan eventually gave up and ran to the bank and drew the money out for the bailiffs.

A spokesperson for Morgan said “There was an outstanding financial issue with regards to Morgan’s rent which has now been settled.”

Oops, There Goes Tweet’s Tour

The headline of this article was what R&B stunning newcomer Tweet was forced to say a while back when she and Glenn Lewis cancelled their co-headlining performances.

Sometime in early April, Tweet announced that she had her heart set on going out on the road with the soulful Glenn Lewis, after turning down opening spots on the summer tours of such big-time acts such as Usher and Musiq.

With Tweet’s popular, autoerotic anthem ‘Oops (Oh My)’ and Glenn’s soulful, Stevie Wonder-esque ‘Don’t You Forget It’, both such popular tracks on the airwaves of urban radio, the tour seemed like a must for the two of them. The duo had planned a 24-city U.S. club tour that would kick off in Kansas City, Missouri, on the 12th of May and would have come to a close on the 28th of June in Cincinnati.

However, merely days before all of the festivities kicked off, almost the entire tour was scrapped. A swift survey of the proposed venues suggested that soft ticket sales may have been the culprit, though when asked what happened, the managements for both acts declined to comment. Spokepeople from both camps have persistently insisted that the tour will be rescheduled real soon, though no dates or specific plans have been finalized.

Meanwhile, be sure to check out Tweet’s brand new single, entitled ‘Call Me’ and it’s a gorgeous number, occupied with the Timbaland sounds and rather smooth Indian beats. You’re bound to like this offering of hers which will certainly grow on you after a while, that’s for sure. I’m giving it 4 stars out of 5. A good sophomore effort.

Craig David Is Not Walking Away And Will Slowly Come Up With LP No.2

Craig David is back in the States on a whistle-stop tour of ten major cities in less than two weeks. This time he’s promoting his latest US release ‘Walking Away’.

While most British acts are being ignored in America, Craig says he’s determined to cash in on the world’s biggest music market.

The two-step/R&B crooner is at No.50 on the US singles chart this week, and he admits he’s grateful for the attention, saying “It’s been amazing to see how the American audience have started to embrace what I’ve been doing. They’ve been very kind. Whenever I do a show, there’s always something, some thongs being thrown up.”

“Most of the time I usually humour it, and because I’m never really in one place long enough to kind of go with the full chat-up line since I’m always being ushered off” he said, speaking to the press.

“So it always kind of gets to the point ‘Yeah, yeah! We’ll see how it goes, yeah.’ Next thing I know, I’m in some next place doing something else so I kind of get away with it which is cool.”

Craig has exclusively revealed that he is indeed putting the finishing touches to his second album, but reckons he’s in no actual hurry. He said “I don’t want to rush the second album in any way. I want to make sure that it’s a progression from ‘Born To Do It’, which I think naturally it will be just from things I’ve experienced. I’m working with the same people as on the first album, also with Fraser T Smith who I do my acoustic performances with and some other guys in the UK.”

For All Things Soluna

If you look hard enough somewhere between the sun and the moon you will find Soluna and when you find it, chances are you will be overjoyed. That’s because Soluna is DreamWorks Records’ newest and sexiest, in every single sense of the words, Latin pop sensations.

The gifted and exotic Soluna consists of four members, namely America Olivio, Jessica Castellanos, Christina “T” Lopez and Aurora Rodriguez and together, they bring with them their breathtaking vocal abilities in both English and Spanish, found on their debut LP, out already in stores in the US.

When asked how the title Soluna, a combination of the Spanish words Sol (sun) and Luna (Moon) came about, Jessica states “We wanted to find a name that would express our personalities and the different colors of our music. We chose Soluna because it suggests the contrast of the sun and the moon. The sun is full of fire and strength, while the moon is romantic, mysterious and sweet. Our music is like that, alternating between power and vulnerability.”

These girls are radiant and so fresh that you just have to request them at your favourite radio outlets. Get those stations to play it if they don’t already. It’s no wonder as to why Soluna’s climbing up the waves swiftly with their offering, entitled ‘For All Time’ in the US of A.

Alicia Keys Among Others Honoured At The EMMAs

Alicia Keys and So Solid Crew were among the stars honoured during this year’s ritzy Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards (EMMAs), which took place in London on the 30th of May.

So Solid Crew, the 30-strong garage collective came away from the top awards ceremony with the Best British Music Act gong, their third major accolade. Over the past year, the ’21 Seconds’ hitmakers have also scooped a Brit and MOBO Award as well.

Alicia Keys was labeled the Best International Music Act.

Other Asian sensations and black stars who were credited during the annual awards festival included Oscar-winners, Halle Berry and Denzel Washington, the team behind spoof BBC TV chatshow ‘The Kumars at No. 42’, EastEnders star Rudolph Walker, who plays Patrick Trueman in the soap, and newsreader Moira Stewart.

The Streets Become Heroes

UK garage poet Mike Skinner also widely known as The Streets is set to release his fantstatic ‘Weak Become Heroes’ as his next single during mid-July.

‘Weak Become Heroes’ will be his 3rd single to be harvested from his acclaimed debut album, ‘Original Pirate Material’. The number would take you back to the days of acid house, giving respect to the likes of Danny Rampling and Paul Oakenfold along the way.

The single will come backed by remixes from X-Press 2’s Ashley Beedle and Black Science Orchestra.

‘Weak Become Heroes’ can be heard online at his authourized webpage, proudly located at www.the-streets.co.uk so go check it out.

Support this brilliant guy, fellahs. He’s great. It’s a pity he’s just being overlooked over other not-so-good acts. This track of his, I would give 3.5 stars out of 5. Request it or buy it at all good stores.

Cowell, Fox & Waterman Take On Top Of The Pops

Simon Cowell, Neil Fox and Pete Waterman are being lined up for a new pop show on ITV.

The channel is hoping to launch its own show to rival the BBC’s ‘Top Of The Pops’.

According to the Daily Express, the new show could resemble ‘Jukebox Jury’ with a panel giving its opinions on new singles.

The paper says the show will be broadcast in an early evening prime time slot.

Backstreet Boys Have Not Split Up

The Backstreet Boys aren’t about to break up, a spokesperson has confirmed.

Rumours of a supposed split emerged after it was revealed that Nick Carter is currently working on some solo material. In addition, a message appeared on the boyband’s official website, www.backstreetboys.com, which read: “The Backstreet Boys website is currently on hiatus, and no more memberships will be accepted.”

However, a spokeswoman for the boys has poo-poohed the rumours, telling an UK music website that “The website is on hiatus because the band are working on new material. They’re planning to release a new album and are working on individual projects as well.”

The group’s fifth studio album will be ready later in the year and is to be produced by the likes of Jermaine Dupri and Glen Ballard, in an attempt to compete with their US rivals N’Sync, who have gained a lot of credibility since moving in a more urban-flavoured musical direction.

Ask me and I say N’Sync beats the Backstreet Boys hands down, man.
