Boyz II Men Also Claim Music Industry Is Racist

R&B band, Boyz II Men, are the latest artists to claim that the music industry is racist.

Speaking to The New York Post, singer Shawn Stockman said that, when their ‘End Of The Road’ single beat Elvis Presley’s record for the most weeks at No. 1 in the US, they received very little press coverage.

Shawn even went as far as to say that, if they if were a white group, Boyz II Men’s 11 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard chart would’ve seen them on the cover of Time magazine.

“It was like a full paragraph in Billboard and then nothing” he reasoned.

Bandmate Nathan Morris added “When we had found out that we had broken Elvis’ record we were in London. We came back to the States and it just seemed that everyone was so loyal to Elvis there was a complete media blackout. I mean, can you imagine the publicity that would have occurred if Celine Dion or Madonna had broken that record.”

Boyz II Men’s fantastic new single, entitled ‘Colour Of Love’, lifted from their LP, ‘Full Circle’ is out in shops in America right this instant.

Mandy Moore On Lousy Birthday

After a fan on Mandy Moore’s official message board complained about having a lousy 16th birthday, Mandy posted that her 18th birthday wasn’t all she thought it would be cracked up to be.

“My actual 18th birthday was spent doing nothing. I was stuck in a trailer with my parents for 10 hours hoping to work but eventually just getting sent home. To top it off, the weather was crap. Chilly rain, mud, the whole nine yards. LOL. Not as bad…. but I can relate on a level. I thought my 18th was supposed to be special too. I decided that I could do to make it better — by celebrating (I had my first real birthday party, nothing huge, but definitely worth it). I hope your next year is better than ever. You can make sure of it.”

Mandy’s really nice, isn’t she? I like her. And everybody seems to agree that she is a better actress than Britney. She’s a true talent.

Keith Duffy Still Angry At Ronan Keating

Almost two years has passed since Boyzone split up, former member Keith Duffy says he’s still angry with Ronan Keating for refusing to tour with the group one last time.

Speaking to a magazine, Keith explained that while he, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch had planned to call it quits after a farewell tour, Ronan refused to join them, so he could concentrate on what’d become his hugely-successful solo career.

“He did pull out of it” Keith said “And I was so f***ing annoyed. We were all annoyed about it. I was just so gutted.”

However, Keith admitted his main problem with Ronan is that he isn’t the same fellow he knew a decade ago.

“I miss the guy that I was in the band with” he continued. “I don’t miss the guy he is today, because it’s not the same person as far as I am concerned. I think he kind of sees it that we’re jealous of him and I think that’s very sad.”

Toni Braxton and Irv Gotti

Irv Gotti, the mastermind behind J. Lo and Ja Rule collaborations “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny,” has cooked up a ghetto anthem for R&B diva Toni Braxton that could end up on her new album due out October 1.

On an untitled song, Gotti has Braxton singing the hook from Tupac’s “Me And My Girlfriend,” from the late rapper’s 1996 album Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory released posthumously under the alias Makaveli.

“Toni’s singing, ‘All I need in this life of sin/Is me and my boyfriend/Ride with me to the bloody end/Just me and my boyfriend,'” Gotti told us. “Yo, when n–gas hear that they gone be like, ‘Gotti is a fool, yo!'”

Gotti added that Braxton was open to the idea from the beginning. “She was totally with it,” Gotti said. “She was like, ‘That’s f–king hot.’ I’m thinking about putting DMX on it, just for the combination of beauty and the beast. ‘Cause he’s a f–king animal, and she’s such a petite little…I think the combination of them two on screen would be stupid.”

Gotti’s Irv Gotti Presents The Inc. enters the Billboard 200 chart at Number Three this week, and features songs with J-Lo, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Charli Baltimore, Caddillac Tah, and others.

Geri Halliwell’s Not A Sport In Battling Melanie B

Trust Geri Halliwell to spoil all the fun. The ginger singer has has pulled out of a book battle with former Spice Girl Mel B. The ex-bandmates were scheduled to bring out autobiographies on the exact same date, 2nd of September.

According to the tabs, slimline Gezza was hot favourite to start with but pre-sales figures showed mouthy Mel outselling her rival by nearly two to one.

So what happens? Geri’s book, named Just For The Record, is jostled back a week and will now hit the shops on the 9th of September.

A publishing source is quoted in the papers saying “Everyone was astounded when pre-sales figures showed Mel’s book, Catch A Fire, was way ahead. It sure looks like Melanie’s book is surely a good read.”

Hear’Say Criticizes Geri Halliwell

Hear’Say have criticized the selection of Geri Halliwell as a judge on approaching talent show ‘Pop Rivals’.

Myleene Klass says Halliwell shouldn’t be allowed to put together a new band because she instigated the Spice Girls split. Hear’Say were speaking on online celebrity chat show AOL Live this morning.

Myleene said “I’d find it quite ironic auditioning for Geri Halliwell. She instigated the split with the Spice Girls. I don’t know that she’s the right person.”

Hear’Say colleague Noel Sullivan said “I don’t see how you can be a judge about putting a band together when you’re the person who walked out of it.”

Danny Foster agreed with his two bandmates.

He said “It sums up how it’s going. Before, the judges were record company executive and management companies.”

Myleene added “Now it’s the blind leading the blind.”

And Noel finished by saying “…and they might not necessarily be so talented themselves.”

Mis-Teeq In Lingerie

The Sun has three sexy snaps of Mis-Teeq in lingerie and spoke with Alesha, who revealed plans for the trio to make a run at the US market.

“We’re working really hard on new material and hoping to get an American deal” she revealed. “We won’t be neglecting the UK, though, because this is our home.”

Just for the record, I think Mis-Teeq have what it takes to make it big in the US provided they stick to churning out UK garage sounding material and of course, working extremely hard like how Craig and Kylie did. It’s pointless heading down there and just being another R&B girlband.

Anyway, you can read more about the Miss India-pretty treasures and view some of the pictures here.

A1’s Mark Read Questions R&B’s Future

With R&B music all the rage at the moment, it isn’t surprising that the likes of Hear’Say, Liberty X and 3SL are clamouring to get their hands on songs that have a cool soul groove.

But a1’s Mark Read isn’t so sure that it’s a good idea for everyone to jump on the bandwagon because the craze for slinky R&B beats may soon pass.

“Pop music goes in cycles” he told a magazine. “And although R&B is big now people will get bored of it. Pop has a future but it’ll be something we’ve not seen before – two styles mixing together that no one was expecting – rock and reggae or something.”

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that, after their appearance on US soap ‘The Young & The Restless’, singer Ben Adams has been offered a speaking part in a future episode.

Will Young Fans Angry Again

Record label bosses at BMG have dealt Will Youngs’ followers yet another insult. This time, by refusing to set up a fan club for the Pop Idol winner. It’s funny, you would they would set up a fan club for the winner immediately or something.

The latest twist in the Garethgate saga was revealed as Will and Gareth turned up to film a new video together in Blackheath, South East London.

Gareth’s fans had been offered a chance to appear in the promo through his website. Not such thing was apparently mentioned for Will’s fans.

Supporters of the Pop Idol runner-up can also sign up for a membership card, exclusive CD-Rom photos and a photo of their hero for GBP9.99.

So now, Wills’ fans are really extremely furious.

One told the papers “It seems BMG are determined to ignore the fact that Will is very popular too. We have campaigned for them to treat Will like the real Pop Idol winner but everything has fallen on deaf ears.”
