Priya Thomas Digs O-Town And Avril Lavigne

Priya Thomas, one of Canada’s promising new vocalists, said that although boybands aren’t exactly what she’d call her musical inspirations, she did say that O-Town were an exception though.

“I think that O-Town has got this certain edge about them that makes them stand out. They’re like this band who can’t quite decide to be a rock band or one of those unmemorable ones. But then again, that makes them quite unique doesn’t it?”

“And as for Avril, I think she’s gifted and she has broke out in phenomenal ways. So that’s good for her.”

Nelly Had No Knowledge Of New York

Nelly admitted to Glenn Gamboa of Newsday that before the success of ‘Country Grammar’, he had no knowledge of New York other than what he saw of it on television.

“It’s the oddest truth” said Nelly. “When we started in St. Louis in ’92, we didn’t know nothing about New York City except what we saw on TV.”

“We sold 9 million copies of ‘Country Grammar’ and 1.7 million of them in New York City. That’s amazing to us.”

DJ Sammy To Help Mariah Carey

DJ Sammy has been brought in to help Mariah Carey with her big comeback album. Mariah’s manager has been to Sammy’s studio to ask for advice after hearing his re-make of Bryan Adams’ ‘Heaven’.

Sammy says Bryan has now asked him to get involved in his next few songs as well. He’s already well-known in the Euro dance scene, and says he’s proud to help stars make their comebacks.

“Every big artist has his ups and downs you know. And I think Mariah has such huge vocals. I would love to work with that woman.”

“Bryan Adams was telling me ‘Sammy, tell them all that I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it!’ I can’t help but feel proud when you have a songwriter like Bryan Adams telling you ‘Sammy, I love the job you’ve done.'”

Monica And Her Song About Her Departed Boyfriend

Monica opened up recently and revealed that a cut on her new LP ‘All Eyes On Me’ called ‘I Wrote This Song’ is about her deceased boyfriend.

It’s, in essence, a very personal track that deals with her boyfriend who committed suicide in her presence. “It took a lot of courage for me to write that song in particular” she said.

“It’s about my first love who committed suicide and the song was my way of sharing the intimate situation between us. Some days, when I think about what happened, I cry.”

Oasis Song To Help Sell Knickers

They once vowed never to sell out to telly ads but now Oasis have done a U-turn and agreed that one of their songs can be used to flog women’s underwear in the States.

The track ‘Hung In A Bad Place’ will feature in a massive ad campaign for the saucy Victoria’s Secret range in New York.

Oasis, who guard the copyright to their songs carefully, are usually fussy about using their music in adverts or cover versions but they have given the green light to allow the song, written by guitarist Gem Archer, to be used to sell bras and knickers.

A pal of the band said “Oasis have seen what ads have done for other bands in the States and so when this offer came up they took it. They haven’t made their mark in the US as they have done in the UK and Europe so maybe this is their way in.”

In June the band’s lawyers ordered the Army to remove ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Hello’ from a recruitment video or face legal action. Both songs were used without permission from songwriter Noel Gallagher and the Army recalled 300 videos and scrubbed the tracks off.

Toni Braxton Gets Bitchy About Jennifer Lopez

Toni Braxton got catty with Jennifer Lopez and you’ll be able to read it all and more in the December issue of Vibe magazine.

Toni Braxton commented “She’s a very good actress, but she’s new to the singing world.”

As for those who suggested her Richard Tyler gown at the 2001 Grammy’s was a move to try and outdo the now infamous green Versace/J Lo wore the year before, she said “Nothing against her, but to insinuate that I’m trying to be like her? I puke.”

“I’m sorry but in case you haven’t noticed this is not my first Grammy. I have six. How many does she have?”
