The Hindu Times with Oasis

If you’ve attended, in recent times, an Oasis live gig, then you’ve already listened to ‘The Hindu Times’, Oasis’s comeback single. They’ve also performed this new track of theirs at the ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’ gigs and last year’s 10th Anniversary ‘Noise and Confusion’ events.

The chaps who gave us ‘Wonderwall’ are all set and ready to make public ‘The Hindu Times’. This single will be Oasis’s latest release in almost two years, available out in shops on the 15th of April. If there’s a single, most probably there is an album that’ll accompany it and so ‘The Hindu Times’ will be taken off Oasis’s fifth album tentatively titled ‘Heathen Chemistry’ for now and it is in its final stages of production. Sources say their album may be out sometime in July.

The boys from Oasis are currently planning to conduct a world tour also and will headline April’s ‘Coachella Festival’ to be held in California.

Craig David and Justin Timberlake to Duet

Wherever Craig David goes, he seems to be making a lot of fans and setting their charts on fire. And by fans, I mean even everyone who’s just about anybody in the music industry is just dying to work with the ‘Walking Away’ garage sensation who burst into the scenes last year and became an household name everywhere with that infectious track of his ‘Can You Fill Me In?’.

Craig, who now seems to be putting on a bit of weight ever since stepping foot into the US, has had a long list of artistes to choose from as to who he could do a duet with. And today, we can finally tell you that he has made his choice in the form of Britney’s virgin boyfriend, Justin Timberlake from N’Sync.

The ‘Rendezvous’ star from Southampton is the reason why N’Sync decided to adopt the two-step sound you hear on their new ‘Celebrity’ album.

At the moment, details are pretty sketchy but the boys’ collaboration will most probably appear on Craig David’s new album, which will be out in stores sometime in the autumn.

George Michael & Gareth Gates Battle for Chart Position

Having lost out to Will on Pop Idol, Gareth Gates, 17, is also putting his heart and soul to start his life as a pop star. Just like Will, Simon Cowell provided Gareth with a recording contract too and come 18th of March 2002, get set for the nail biting chart action to take place.

Gareth is soon going to release his single, the tearjerker of a song ‘Unchained Melody’, and might face fierce chart battle with his idol, George Michael.

The ex-Wham superstar is about to officially release his brand new single ‘Freeek’. The video for the comeback song is said to have cost a stonking 1 million pounds and is said to be the most expensive music video ever made. Sporting a futuristic theme and shot in Los Angeles, George plays an action hero in the elaborate video. George has signed a contract with Universal Records stating he is with them for this single only but if he’s pleased with their work, then he would sign on with them for his next album. If you want to sample George’s new single that has rather racy lyrics, then head on down to his official website:

www.georgemichael.net.

So if Gareth does decide to bring forward his single’s release date, then apparently he’s up against Ali G and Shaggy. If he decides to release ‘Unchained Melody’ a week later, he’ll be up against Robbie Williams.

Nicole Kidman Can’t Get Kylie Outta Her Head

Nicole Kidman, Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee for her role in ‘Moulin Rouge’, wants to duet with fellow Australian beauty Kylie Minogue. Kylie, of course appeared in a blink-and-you’ll-miss role as the green fairy in the motion picture too.

Nicole, who can soon be seen in her new movie ‘Birthday Girl’ about a mail-order bride, has expressed her eagerness to croon again after her singing stints in ‘Moulin Rouge’ and her Christmas UK chart success with Robbie Williams on a cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra’s ‘Something Stupid’. “I want to make at least one record with her,” says Nicole. “I love her work and her music. I’m knocked out she’s breaking into the States and I know we could get on, and hey, she’s another Aussie.”

Kylie Minogue, on the other hand, has not replied to Nicole’s statement at the time this news piece was written. Kylie right now is in the US of A and inching her way to their top spot on their charts with that massive smash tune ‘Can’t Get You Outta My Head’. Her current single right now in the UK, ‘In Your Eyes’ is doing pretty well and may repeat the same success she had with her previous catchy number and stay on the No.1 position for weeks.

If Kylie and Nicole do collaborate and give the world a single, you just know it’s going to be big.

Britney at Crossroads

Pop sensation, Britney Spears, 20, who just recently had her stalker arrested for trespassing her property, has sweared that she’ll never ever be naked in a movie, no matter how much the part may demand it. The world famous virgin does have a love scene in her film ‘Crossroads’ but apparently the ‘Overprotected’ star only agreed to it on the condition she could keep her clothes on. In an interview recently done, Britney says “I just wouldn’t feel comfortable being completely naked in front of people. That’s totally against what I believe in.” Britney went, with her virgin boyfriend, Justin Timberlake in tow, to her solid big-screen premiere for her debut-acting role in the movie ‘Crossroads’. Fortunately for her, her movie avoided the box-office pitfalls that were notably encountered by some mega pop stars – think along the lines of Mariah Carey with ‘Glitter’ – when they cross over to film. ‘Crossroads’ was at No. 2 at the box-office weekend takings that currently stand at $14.6 million.

Meanwhile, ‘John Q’, starring Denzel Washington as a desperate dad who holds an emergency room hostage to secure a heart transplant for his dying son, took in $20.6 million and is ranked as the No.1 movie, according to studio estimates on Sunday. Disney’s animated ‘Return to Never Land’, a ‘Peter Pan’ sequel, opened in third place earning $11.8 million.

In her movie ‘Crossroads’, Britney plays an American teenager who takes a trip to Los Angeles with her two best girlfriends and her boyfriend to find her mother. When you catch the film, do keep a look out for the parts where Britney’s character loses her virginity and runs around in her knickers.

Brandy’s Married

After months of speculation, R&B star Brandy has finally revealed that she is indeed a Mrs. The star has married a producer/songwriter who responds to the name of Robert Smith during the summer of 2001.

In a statement regarding the hush-hush marriage, the singer/actress who just turned 23 and celebrated her birthday a while back, says “I’ve fallen in love with a very warm, gentle, understanding and focused person. That summer we married quietly. A new experience, a new day for me.” Speaking earlier this year, she had only offered a “maybe” when quizzed if she had gotten engaged.

Smith’s work credits include working with Michael Jackson and the Spice Girls. The announcement comes as Brandy, looking hotter than ever before, prepares to release ‘Full Moon’, her first album in four years, on 5th March 2002. The first single off ‘Full Moon’ is the really catchy ‘What About Us?’, a track that I would give 3.5 stars out of 5. If you’ve never heard it yet, well, it really isn’t like anything that’s played on the radio airwaves nowadays. In an exclusive interview for USA Today, the one half of the ‘Boy Is Mine’ star talks about she decided to take a whole different approach when it came to making this latest effort of hers. “I wanted to make it as edgy as possible. I used my voice as an instrument more on this record than I ever have before.”

Christina Aguilera Gives A Sneak Peek Of New Album

Come 24th February 2002, Sunday, fans of Christina Aguilera, who was last seen prancing around with hair that looked much bigger than herself in the smash cover version of ‘Lady Marmalade’, would be able to hear a track entitled ‘Infatuation’ which will be taken off Christina Aguilera’s upcoming album at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics that’s currently being held in Salt Lake City, USA.

Although ‘Infatuation’ is not the first single off the former Mouseketeer from the Mickey Mouse Club back in her younger days, Christina just wants everyone who tunes in to have or, rather hear a preview of the kind of songs that are to be expected when her latest album is released tentatively around April or May 2002.

This latest release is being touted as the ‘Genie In A Bottle’ popster’s sophomore effort, it being her second full-length album following ‘My Reflection’. Technically though, Christina has two other offerings under her belt, what with ‘Mi Reflejo’ and the Christmas CD ‘My Kind Of Christmas’.

Other acts to perform at the Winter Olympics’ closing ceremony include N’Sync, Bon Jovi and a whole lot more.

Tweet, Latest R&B Sensation

If you’ve caught the brand new Missy Elliott video, the one that’s dedicated to the loving memory of Aaliyah, entitled ‘Take Away’, you would notice that a relatively unknown singer Tweet lends her vocals to the song and can be seen present in the video too.

All the talk about how she is virtually an unknown is set to change with Tweet’s first single as a solo artist, ‘Oops (Oh My)’, climbing up the Billboard charts really fast. Discovered by Missy Elliott and Timbaland and signed on to Gold Mind Record, Tweet is very talented in every sense of the word according to reports. Apparently, not only is she an excellent singer, she is also a producer, songwriter plus a good acoustic guitarist and drummer.Tweet, whose name sounds like it’s derived from watching far too many cartoons, especially the one with the small yellow bird (not naming names here but you guys know which one), is about to release her debut album called ‘Southern Hummingbird’ that would be available in all good record stores sometime in the coming months. Word has it that it may be released on the 2nd of April but it is subject to change.

What can you find on Tweet’s virgin album? Well, for starters, there’s the first single that features clever wordplay. Expect to find a duet with R&B star Bilal. Other songs include ‘Best Friend’ and a hip-hop dance number called ‘Boogie 2nite’.

India.Arie’s Ready For Love

I am ready for love/ why are you hiding from me/ I’d quickly give my freedom/ to be held in your captivity/ I am ready for love/ all of the joy and the pain/ and all the times that it takes/ just to stay in your good grace.

With lyrics like this to her latest single ‘Ready for Love’, it’s no wonder really as to why India.Arie, 25, is slated to win big at this year’s 44th Annual Grammy Awards to be held on the 27th of February in Los Angeles. She shares the honor of having the most number of nominations with U2, even beating the “expected-so-no-surprise-there” Alicia Keys who bagged 6 nominations. Named India in tribute to Mahatma Gandhi because of her due date matching his birthday, she is kind of difficult to pigeonhole and to classify her as the next so and so would not do her justice. Especially so when her debut album entitled ‘Acoustic Soul’ is totally refreshing and is packed with beautiful songs, many of which she composed herself. Leaving deep impressions on all, from the time she performed at small coffeehouses to the stages of Lilith Fair, she is definitely one of a kind.

Buy the album or hear the single or any other single of hers for that matter. Whatever you do to get India.Arie into your lives, she will not disappoint. You might want to sample tracks from her album by going to her official site at: www.indiaarie.com.

On a personal note altogether, I’ve heard ‘Ready For Love’ and I think she’s amazing. I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5. You shouldn’t give her a miss.

Bardot’s Love Will Find A Way

Bardot, the pop group from Australia, is about to release their latest number ‘Love Will Find A Way’ come 18th February. The breezy mid-tempo single that will showcase the girls’ fabulous vocals will also contain a non-album track called ‘Hit & Run’. For this single, they collaborated with UK writer Ollie J of pop outfit Arkarna fame who have in the past be known to be Peter Andre’s and Leftfield’s songwriter.

Bardot, who is named after French sexpot Bridgette Bardot, consists of 4 beautiful girls who each have their own distinct individual style, namely Belinda Chapple, Sophie Monk, Tiffany Wood and not forgetting Sally Polihronas.Hailing from Australia, these girls are also famously known for having being put together right from the start on the hit reality television phenomenon that is Popstars. They received overnight fame, what with ratings having gone through the roof and all that.
